New education and skills measures announced  (Department for Education)

Education Secretary Justine Greening has announced a series of measures to place education at the heart of the government’s ambition to provide opportunity for all and ensure the skills needed to secure the nation’s prosperity.

Institute for Apprenticeships sets out vision on quality (Institute for Apprenticeships)

The Institute for Apprenticeships has set out its understanding of what makes a high quality apprenticeship – and has developed a draft ‘Quality Statement’ which will act as a core reference point for its work and will help shape the wider apprenticeship landscape. Employers, training providers, assessors and members of the public now have the opportunity to offer feedback on the draft statement.

HMRC Launch Small Business Online Forum

HMRC has launched the Small Business Online Forum for small businesses and the self-employed.

With links to HMRC’s new dedicated webchat service, getting direct support couldn’t be easier.

The forum offers a quick and easy way for members to get advice and useful hints and tips with:

  • starting a business
  • support for growing a business – including taking on employees and expanding
  • buying and selling abroad
  • completing tax returns
  • tax credits.

Old Isleworthians Under 14 Reds are looking for sponsorship for their training tops and waterproofs.

The team plays football in the highest division of the Surrey Youth League, the Premier Elite.

The club is a community club with strong local roots with boys from diverse backgrounds.

The team is looking for around £500 in sponsorship in order to go beyond the basic football kit and buy training tops and waterproofs with the sponsor's name across team shirts.

Hounslow Council marks a decade of apprenticeships

Hounslow Council is marking the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week with a raft of useful and practical events until 10 March aimed at getting the borough’s residents into local apprenticeship placements.

Anyone interested in apprenticeships can drop in to The Treaty Centre (near Hounslow Library) from 6 to 10 March between 9.30am and 6pm.
