Hounslow Council is asking residents and businesses that are able to donate food and basic toiletries to issue to local people in need, to bring it to Hounslow Library at the Civic Centre on Thursday 28 September between 10am and 2pm.
Current stocks for use by the “Foodbox” scheme are running low need replenishing. The things being requested are rice, noodles, pasta, tea, coffee, sugar, long-life milk, condensed milk, juices, tinned meat, beans, sweetcorn, soups, stews, tomato sauce, jam, oil, tinned fruit, tinned veg, dried fruit, cereals, crackers, Tuna, peanut butter, sanitary towels, tampons, toilet roll, toothpaste, soap.
The Foodbox scheme issues these to people in need who are referred by organisations including Job Centres, Hestia, and Citizens Advice.
The Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Sue Sampson, Leader of the Council, Councillor Steve Curran, and Chair of HCF, Councillor Corinna Smart are all supporting the initiative and will be attending the event at 1pm.
