Docking Station Launch
An idea from the young people of Hounslow
‘The Social Enterprise High Street Challenge’ challenged young people in Hounslow secondary schools to develop a business plan for an empty shop in Brentford High Street in just eight weeks. Selected in a Dragons Den-like final last Autumn, the winning business concept “Docking Station” came from a team at Hounslow Manor school.
The new shop will be run by nine apprentices who started their training at West Thames College in December and will continue their technical training at Thames Valley University in partnership Hounslow Apprenticeship Training.
The social enterprise
Docking Station is a café offering a variety of drinks and food at different times of day, as well as immersive gaming experiences on the latest Xbox Kinect and Sony Playstation3 consoles for our members.
On the first floor of 108 High Street we are developing a serviced workspace for small businesses and charities that includes about 20 desks and a meeting room.
The launch
The Event will take place on 11 March 2011, at The Docking Station 108 High Street, Brentford, from 4.30pm. We are delighted to be able to announce that The Worshipful, The Mayor of the London Borough of Hounslow, Councillor Colin Ellar will formally open Docking Station at 5.30pm, the ceremonial part of the evening will conclude by 6.30pm. You are of course welcome to stay and enjoy Docking Station’s food and entertainment into the evening.
