Something Sounds Wonderful at the Musical Museum
On Saturday 9th April, from 1pm – 10pm, in the fabulous setting of the Musical Museum, an exciting day of live music, workshops and performances will be held by the inspiring Connect & Create, with all proceeds going towards Disability Network Hounslow’s vital work.
The flagship event will once again be opened by the Mayor of Hounslow playing bass guitar, followed by an appearance of the magnificent Wurlitzer, star of the Musical Museums collection. An exciting array of bands from London and the South East will follow, featuring a diverse range of music, from Latin rhythms, African drums, to wild Balkan gypsy music, not to mention a Harp Workshop and an inclusive music session from Joy of Sound!
However, Something Sounds Wonderful is about more than just listening to excellent music, thanks to support of the Institute of Physics together with The Making Place, a charity dedicated to exciting and informing the public about science and technology, you can try your hand at some awe-inspiring experiments which demonstrate some of the principles of sound. Dr Mark Lewney, the Guitar Physicist will also be taking to the main stage to perform his show “Rock Guitar in 11 Dimensions”, to explore where sound can take us in our understanding of the universe.
Mary Macleod will be visiting the Star Centre on Bell Road this Friday to meet Members, Service Users, Staff, Volunteers and Trustees and to have a look at the services DNH provide and the excellent and vital work DNH undertakes for the local community. The visit will also provide members and service users with an opportunity to meet their MP and voice their concerns about the cuts and the need for Disability Network Hounslow, their own member-led organisation, to continue to exist to support them.
Elsie the Dalek and friends will be visiting The Treaty Centre, Hounslow in support of Disability Network Hounslow on Saturday 2nd April, between 9-5pm to help raise funds, disability awareness and giving out fliers for our forthcoming Charity Fundraising Event – Something Sounds Wonderful,
