Hounslow Businesses and the Olympics

Hounslow Businesses and the Olympics

10am-12 noon

Local businesses are being invited to find out how the Olympics could affect them and also how they can benefit from the Olympics at a free event run by the council.

The event is being organised by the council to help local businesses understand the potential impact the Olympics will have on issues such as staff travel, customer access and freight movement.

There will also be information on how to plan for any disruption which may affect businesses’ ability to operate.

Cllr Ruth Cadbury, deputy leader of the council, said:

“It’s easy to think that because the Olympic Park is on the other side of London we won’t be affected, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

“As well as the sheer volume of visitors to the capital passing through, and visiting, the borough, there will be a number of events taking place that could affect local businesses.

“I have written to local businesses inviting them to find out more about how they might be affected, so they can make sure they don’t get caught out.”

Richard Sumray, chair of London 2012 Forum, will talk about the business benefits it is anticipated that the Olympics will bring.

Transport for London will be making a presentation about the effects of the Olympics on the roads and public transport.

The event takes place on Wednesday 13 July between 10 -12 noon in the Lampton Park Conference Centre, Hounslow Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow, TW3 4DN.

Places at the event are limited, and need to be booked in advance by filling in the form at www.hounslow.gov.uk/olympics_business by 12 noon on Monday, 11 July.

There will be a question and answer session, and to help make sure attendees get the answers they need, questions should be submitted in advance via the e-form on the website.

Come along and find out how the Olympics may impact on your business.
