Invitation to July Chamber Picnic at Syon House
You are invited to our annual picnic at Syon House where we shall have a brief tour of the archaeological digs followed by a picnic on the front lawn. Please bring your own picnic.
This will take place on Wednesday July 13th You are warmly welcome to invite family and colleagues to this occasion.
We will gather for 6pm with a tour at half six, and will be joined for our picnic by Leslie Feore and Emma Hadleigh-Sparks of Syon Park as well as archaeologists.
Archaeologist Harvey Sheldon explains: “This season, for the first time, the training excavation is taking place on the western approach to Syon House. A geophysics course last year suggested that there were 2 further courtyard enclosures west of the standing house. Although our dig only began on Monday 4th July there are already indications that the main southern wall of the western most court has been located. It appears to be running directly between the south western tower of the existing house and the southern Pepperpot Lodge.”
