Breakfast Meeting with Mary Macleod MP on Apprenticeships
Mary Macleod MP invites you to a breakfast meeting on Apprenticeships
Tuesday 31st January 2012 09:00-11:00am
I would like to cordially invite business leaders to a breakfast conference where you can learn about the benefits and procedures for taking on apprentices. I will host the event with contributions from the National Apprenticeship Service, and employers that have succeeded in integrating apprenticeships into their businesses.
I strongly believe in the value of apprenticeships. They give both young people and adults an opportunity to learn skills in a work-based setting. I welcome the latest figures that show that more than 100,000 people started an apprenticeship this year compared to last year’s figures and I want to build on this newly gained momentum. I want to encourage the change in attitude in apprenticeships as a viable alternative to higher education.
For the 2011-12 academic year, the Government’s forecast is to fund over 360,000 apprenticeship places. I look forward to seeing apprenticeships increase, which will help to train Britain’s workforce and support economic growth.
This event will be an ideal opportunity for small, medium and large companies to learn how apprenticeships can lead to increased productivity, improved competitiveness and a committed and competent work-force.
Please RSVP mary.macleod.mp@parliament.uk to confirm your attendance and I look forward to seeing you on the day.
Best Regards
Mary Macleod MP
Member of Parliament for Brentford and Isleworth
