February Chamber Meeting at the Musical Museum

February Chamber Meeting at the Musical Museum

On the evening of Tuesday 28th February Brentford Chamber held a meeting which was kindly hosted by Ginette Kentish at The Musical Museum. The theme of the evening was “Heritage & Leisure”. Hence as well as our regular members we also invited representatives from organisations and businesses related to those sectors.

The evening started with a drinks reception in the exhibition gallery, during which Catherine Lemmon and Annette Jezierska entertained us with a violin and piano duet.

We then held the main part of the meeting in the Concert Hall. Firstly Richard Coles, the museum’s curator, performed two pieces on the Wurlitzer Organ and then spoke about the museum. New member Sarah Poland then explained the services provided by Mediation Chambers Ltd After that Paul Skelhorn and Lee Doyle from Brentford F.C. Community Sports Trust, told us about an event that they and ISIS are delivering later this summer, a community sports event open to everyone. It would be great to have our business members involved with their event, so look out for details.

Penny Flood, who is the marketing manager for NeighbourNet Ltd,  the organisation behind BrentfordTW8.com, then spoke about how the website can help the attractions from around Brentford to publicise themselves. John Porter,  a Trustee from Kew Bridge Steam Museum, spoke with great enthusiasm and pride about their museum’s recognition both here and abroad. Finally, Peter Hughes, President of Brentford ChamberI lead a brief open floor discussion on what the Chamber can do to help promote the Heritage and Leisure sector. This lead to Andrew Dakers announcing the recently relaunched website www.brentfordhighstreet.com .

We all then enjoyed dinner which was provided by the Musical Museum and wine which was kindly supplied by Thames Water.

We should congratulate ourselves on a meeting which was not only well attended with 60 participants, but also on an evening which many people afterwards said was entertaining and useful. We would like to thank all those who contributed to making the event a success and in particular to Suzie Betlem who organised the refreshments.
