Hounslow EBP to deliver Science Fair at Hounslow Manor School

HEBP_300

HEBP_300Hounslow Education Business Partnership (HEBP), the local charity devoted to supporting young people’s transition into the world of work, will be delivering a science fair for students at Hounslow Manor School, Hounslow, from 8.35am on Tuesday 17th July 2012. Participating employers include British Airways, the Institute of Physics and GSK.

The event, for Year 7 pupils at the school, will involve a wide variety of activities from designing a glider to planting seeds, as well as a diversity of information relating to physics, chemistry and biology. The 50 minute sessions will run throughout the day to groups of 15-20 students from the year group. By the end of the day, it is hoped that students will be inspired by the practical application of science; motivating them through their education at Key Stage 3 (Year 7).

For those young people who aspire to ‘shoot for the moon’ with a career in the sciences as well as those who are simply curious about the various aspects of the world around us, the subject matter will be tailored by Hounslow EBP to be both educational and exciting.

In addition, Year 10 students from the school will be preparing a specially prepared lunch for those who attend – putting their culinary skills to the test for the large numbers of guests and facilitators.

Andrew Dakers, Director, HEBP, said of the event: “With Hounslow EBP being on the front line of reducing youth unemployment in Hounslow, this event is just another example of what can be achieved when organisations collaborate to engage and support the next generation of workers. Hounslow is a hive of young talent in the fields of sport, business and music.

As always, we, along with our various business partners, are eager to bring out the best in young people and show them the wide varieties of exciting careers available.”
