Spark! Delivers Science Fair for Hounslow Manor School Pupils

Spark! (formerly Hounslow Education Business Partnership), delivered an inspiring science fair for students at Hounslow Manor School, Hounslow on Tuesday 17th July 12. The event brought educators and science professionals together to advocate the exciting work done by scientists, botanists and engineers across the borough.

The event, for Year 7 pupils at the school, brought together a wide variety of activities from designing a glider to planting seeds, as well as a diversity of information relating to physics, chemistry and biology.

50 minute sessions ran throughout the day to groups of 15-20 students from the year group; with the objective to promote the practical application of science, ultimately motivating them through their education at Key Stage 3.

Spark! partners British Airways, Thames Water & GSK were among the organisations delivering activities, in addition to London Underground, The Metropolitan Police and many other local organisations who took time out of their busy schedules to participate.

The event served as an enlightening experience for the students, who now head into their Summer Holidays with a wider range of options to consider for their future studies and careers due to the efforts of the Spark! team.
