January’s Event at Brentford FC
January’s Brentford Chamber of Commerce Event at Brentford Football Club attracted well over 60 Chamber Members and Guests, all keen to see and hear BFC’s plans for their new Stadium.
The current plans, which were all on display in “The Hive Bar”, were bought alive by Brian Burgess (pictured) and Chris Gammon (Directors of the new Stadium company) along with Architect Dave Hughes.
We heard that the proposed new stadium complex will mean that BFC can increase revenue on match days with greater seating capacity and by offering professionally run Corporate Hospitality utilising specifically designed areas within the Stadium, affording good views of the ground. In turn, these facilities will also ensure the use of the complex on non-match days as it will be able to offer first class Conference facilities to local businesses.
There was certainly a good level of support for the new stadium, although some concerns were raised as to the size and height of the enabling development, with over 900 flats being proposed for outline planning. The presentation finished with a Q&A session, with some lively questions being put to the home team!
It should be said that whilst the current Stadium site, which has historical significance having been BFC’s home for over 100 years, will be greatly missed, there is no denying that Supporters, Residents and business alike accept that the ground does have to move in order for the Club to compete with others in the League.
It was a terrific evening and Brentford Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the Directors and Management of Brentford Football Club for sponsoring the entire event. Special thanks also to Graham and Jackie Carter, for cooking such delicious food and to all the Staff that worked so hard on the night. We were all looked after very well indeed.
