Brentford Chamber Supports Lionel Road
Here follows Suzie Betlem’s speech which she gave at the Planning Committee last week, speaking in support of the Lionel Road development:
On behalf of the Brentford Chamber of Commerce, we would like to formally support the proposed development and planning application put forward for the New Brentford Football club stadium complex.
We firmly believe that the development is a vital business and community asset and will kick start the much needed economic growth that Brentford has been lacking in recent years.
This will further result in new business prospects and ultimately increase revenue into Brentford.
This is a huge opportunity for local businesses and those seeking training and employment, as the stadium will be not just a sports club, but a vibrant and growing local business centre. It will provide a much needed corporate hospitality venue, and offer business meeting facilities, which will create new investment for the sustainability of not just the football club, but other associated businesses within the environs of Brentford and Chiswick alike.
We welcome the inward investment being put forward. This will encourage existing local business to stay, grow and expand within the borough, and will benefit the local workforce and the local economy, providing 650 full and part time jobs, both during the construction and more importantly in the long term, when the facilities are up and running.
Established Local business will be maintained and enhanced, through contract procurement opportunities that will be generated from the initial build process through and into the future of the new development and its associated buildings surrounding the stadium.
We as a Chamber will work hard to encourage new business development and expansion and we welcome the fact that the Directors of the new stadium complex, will primarily seek to engage and work with local businesses that can offer services that will be required in all aspects of the build programme, which will benefit Brentford Town and its impending regeneration over the coming years.
The stadium itself will be an iconic landmark for Brentford Town’s future, and will keep Brentford firmly on the map.
Brian Sawyer, past President and longtime Brentford FC supporter also spoke in support of the application. A fully indexed view of the whole evening is available to watch.
