Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day

Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day

The Mayor, Councillor Corinna Smart invites you to join her along with representatives from the British Legion Branches, Armed Forces, Civilian Forces and standard bearers to mark Armistice Day.

The event will take place in the Members Car Park, Civic Centre, Lampton Road, Hounslow TW3 4DN on Tuesday 11th November 2014 at 10:25am. A brief service will be conducted followed by a two-minute silence. A bugler will sound the Last Post and Reveille.

Throughout the borough there will be several services on Remembrance Sunday, 9th November.

Councillor Melvin Collins will represent the mayor at Brentford Library from 10.30am for a service of remembrance.

Brian Johnson will lay a wreath on behalf of Brentford Chamber of Commerce.

All are welcome.

Last year’s Armistice Day saw several former Gurkhas attend the borough’s service.

Hounslow Mayor, Councillor Sachin Gupta said: “Hounslow has built a reputation for being a community which honours and takes great pride in servicemen and women. We were the first London borough to sign a covenant with our armed forces to help servicemen and women during and after their careers.

“The borough has been host to many regiments who have been based here, from the Gurkhas to the Welsh Guards.

“Hounslow recognises the ultimate sacrifice our fallen have paid for our freedom. It’s why we wear our poppies with pride.”
