The Brentford Chamber of Commerce Dragons Den initiative strongly demonstrates the commitment of the Brentford Chamber to encourage and support new businesses and entrepreneurs in our local community.

Now running for the second year in partnership with the University of West London the Dragons had the privilege recently of hearing 19 inspiring ideas from young people from the University of West London, West Thames College, Brentford School for Girls and those in employment seeking a career change.

The Dragons, Nick Kilby from Teapigs, Guy Lambert from Thamesbank Credit Union, Mike Sleeman from P2P Finance Ltd and Garth Buckle, Brentford Chamber Executive, had a tough task selecting the ten to go through to the next round. The variety of exciting ideas was incredibly wide ranging and included a smart desk, healthy dog food, a wine bottle, a door lock, phone speakers, coloured candles, protein shakes, a social media site, a highlighter pen, and a 3 in 1 hairbrush.

The Dragons were not only impressed by the business ideas but also by the knowledge, passion and eloquence shown by all the young people who will now go forward to the semi-finals in March.

Mentors are to meet up with the successful candidates prior to February’s Spotlight event to discuss their plans.

The business ideas of the people of Brentford, and their passion to make them succeed, are fully supported by the Brentford Chamber of Commerce and the Dragons Den initiative will help ensure that Brentford becomes an even more vibrant place to live, work and do business.
