Brentford Dragons

The fire breathing Dragons in the chairs this week were:-

Jacqui McMillan – General Manager, Novotel Brentford

Brian Burgess – Director, Lionel Road Developments Ltd

Richard Fuller – Managing Director Fuller Smith & Turner

Nick Green –  Director, Property Services Group, Sky.

Hosted at Brentford School for Girls, guests and contestants were welcomed with delicious refreshments provided by the Chamber.

The students pitched their ideas under the spotlights of the theatre. All of them presented themselves and their products with impressive confidence and skill. We knew that the Dragons’ work was going to be very hard.

Nick Green and Candles candidatesNatural Dog Food. Food for pooches in pouches with no artificial flavours or preservatives. Samples were brought in and Dragon, Nick, suggested that at the cost of £1 a pouch, students may find them very tempting!

Candles with coloured flames. The girls from year 11 pitched their ideas for a range of natural fragrance candles which burn with different colour flames.

Unitouch. Social media for students and University. Not facebook! Double faceted for social and academic use.

3 in 1 Hairbrush. A handy brush with a built in mirror and container to put your styling product.

Deborah Hall and candidateDeborah Hall introduced all the Dragons and told us all a little about what they do. We are fortunate and very grateful to them all for their fiery participation.

We are also extremely delighted that Deborah gives up her busy time to present the event and with her consummate professionalism, makes it such a successful event for the Chamber.

Deborah has been Ofcom’s media trainer since 2008 and is currently training the Communications teams of Dept of Health and Dept of Work & Pensions, staff at Eversheds across UK & London Business School and Durham University’s Global MBA course

All four presentations were marvellous and after some deliberation the Dragons decided on the two winners to go through to the final. Unitouch and the Candles.

Helpful feedback and words of support were offered to the two that narrowly missed out.

The Grand Brentford Dragons Final is between the two above and Smart Executive Desk and Door Lock from the first semi-final. It takes place on St George’s Day Eve, 22nd April 2015 at Paragon House, University of West London.

Please do book your place for the final and bring along colleagues, friends and family.
