Coming soon…..National Cycle Challenge

Welcome to the August issue. Now is the perfect time to register for September’s challenge. To help you get ready for the challenge, our Cycling Workplaces initiative is now offering discounted Santander Cycles Business Accounts. Also, find out why the London Cycling Campaign needs London’s businesses to help make its guided rides on Cycle to Work day on 14th September a success.

If motorised two wheels are more your thing, then we have the BikeSafe-London Rider Skills Days – described as ‘by bikers for bikers’.

We also have all the information about the upcoming changes to trains in and out of Cannon Street and a consultation for the proposed Silvertown tunnel in East London.

Get on your bike to win prizes!

Love to Ride’s National Cycle Challenge runs throughout the month of September and is a fun, free competition to encourage your colleagues to experience first-hand the joys and benefits of riding a bike.

Your workplace can compete against other organisations nationwide and there are lots of fantastic prizes on offer – just for taking part.

It only takes a ten minute cycle ride to get involved, so encourage a friend or two and we could get loads more people cycling across the UK. That’s what the challenge is all about – register today and help spread the joy of cycling! Click here for more information.

Lead the way on Cycle to Work Day

London Cycling Campaign is offering an exciting opportunity for select businesses to promote cycling through sponsoring a ride on Cycle to Work Day, when the LCC will be leading new cyclists into work across London showing them the safest and quickest routes.

The benefits include showing that your organisation is passionate about cycling, the environment and reducing London’s congestion, with branding on participant packs, ride officials’ clothing and a national PR campaign.

Ashok Sinha CEO of LCC said ‘More cyclists mean a healthier workforce and less congestion. Empower more Londoners, lead the way on cycle to work day.’

Silvertown Tunnel

We are developing proposals to build the Silvertown Tunnel, linking the Greenwich Peninsula and Silvertown, click here for further details.

The Silvertown Tunnel will significantly reduce congestion and unplanned closures at the Blackwall Tunnel. It will make journeys more reliable and create opportunities for businesses to access new markets. It will also enable TfL to introduce new cross-river bus services in east London.

Later in the autumn, there will be an examination to decide whether the scheme can proceed. If you have a view about the Silvertown Tunnel, you can now register with the Planning Inspectorate.

Click here for registration (Closes on 31 August 2016).

Service changes at Cannon Street Station over the August Bank Holiday and beyond

If you commute to and from Cannon Street station, from Saturday 27 August to Thursday 1 September there will be no services to Cannon Street. There will be major changes to the Southeastern timetable with fewer trains running on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

London Bridge and Charing Cross services are expected to be busier than usual. From Friday 2 September, Cannon Street services will not call at London Bridge.

Please consider changing your normal journey to work. Click here for more information.
