In Conversation with Claude Littner
Meet The Apprentice Star, one of Britain’s Business icons and visiting Professor at The Claude Littner Business School here at the University of West London.
The lecture
Claude Littner will discuss his new book, ‘Single-Minded – My Life in Business’, take questions from the audience, followed by a book signing and drinks reception.
Single-Minded recounts the key moments of Claude’s life in business, from a young boy in the classroom, all the way to the boardroom, finishing with his experiences of grilling candidates on BBC’s The Apprentice. Whether it be his time as Chairman of Amstrad International; Chief Executive of Tottenham Hotspur; turning around a multi-billion-dollar global oil services business or the fact that he started his first business on his own and made a success of it, he shares the lessons learned from working hard, finding what you’re good at and squeezing everything out of an opportunity.
Claude’s single-mindedness has seen him through numerous challenges. His story will inspire anyone starting out and wanting to learn from the good decisions as well as the mistakes, The Apprentice fans intrigued by the man behind the frosty demeanour and those who think they have what it takes to ace one of his blood-curdling interviews.
Claude will be interviewed by former BBC Media Correspondent and Director of Chiswick Book Festival, Torin Douglas, MBE. Torin has 24 years experience as the BBC’s media correspondent – and 40 years reporting and analysing media issues for the press and broadcasters nationally and internationally.
About Claude Littner
Claude Littner has had a varied career in business having been involved in many companies across a number of industries and countries. He first started working with Lord Sugar in 1990 and began chairing a number of his companies including Amstrad International, Amstrad Spain and Dancall Telecom. Claude served as Chief Executive of Tottenham Hotspur between 1993 and 1998, a period during which Lord Sugar was majority owner and chairman of the club. He was also Deputy Chairman of Blacks Leisure plc, Chairman of ASCO plc and Chairman and majority shareholder of Powerleague Plc.
In 2014, the Business School at the University of West London was named after Claude, an alumnus of the University, in appreciation of his exemplary business track record and contributions to the University. He is currently a visiting professor here at the University participates fully in University life regularly giving lectures and talks to students.
