“Echoes of Emotion” at Watermans Arts Centre

Art Exhibition

Brentford School for Girls is grateful for the opportunity once again to exhibit at the Watermans Art Centre. The art work has been selected from the huge annual exhibition held at the school. The theme which runs through all of the work presents how ideas and emotions are conveyed through art.

Responses are personal and individual and allow the viewer a glimpse into the lives and interests of students who have completed GCSE, AS and A-Level courses. Many have explored individual themes in response to titles offered by exam boards and subjects vary from Art to Photography to Textiles. Students aged 16-18 have created the work and many have now progressed to Art Foundation Courses and on to University.

Age UK Hounslow

Age UK fundraising for Christmas celebrations

Age UK HounslowWith the festive season fast approaching, Brentford Chamber member Age UK Hounslow will be hosting a Christmas lunch on 25th December 2015 for older people in the area who may otherwise face Christmas alone. The Charity is now appealing to the local community to help raise funds to support older people during the festive season and throughout the year. The money raised could help provide an older person with lunch and give them a little warmth and companionship at Christmas and beyond.

The festive season is usually a time for celebration with loved ones, however new research from the leading Charity for older people paints a gloomy picture of the festive season, with more than 340,000 older people across the country worried about feeling lonely this Christmas and more than a million older people saying they haven’t spoken to a friend, neighbour or family member for over a month. Locally, a heart breaking 40,000 older people in London will spend Christmas alone.

In addition we will be joined by the fabulous RedRoutemaster, who will have one of their vintage buses on display and decked out for Christmas as well as the local Pulled Food Company, who will be offering delicious hot food at £5 per head (see the menu).  All of these companies have been working together recently and highlight everything that’s great about the Chamber and how it connects Brentford companies.

Nick Describes the Benefits of Joining Brentford Chamber

Nick Kilby, teapigsNick Kilby, director of teapigs, moved his business and then his home to Brentford, joining Brentford Chamber and then its executive. He describes what membership has done for him:

teapigs has been a member of BCC for 18 months and in that time we’ve enjoyed many business benefits, met lots of lovely people and feel a much greater part of the Brentford community, both business and personal.

Our teas are served and sold in a number of local businesses mostly fellow members of BCC.
