Brentford FC’s 125th Anniversary Gala Dinner

Brentford FC 125th AnniversaryBrentford Chamber of Commerce are delighted to be able to offer members the opportunity to attend Brentford FC’s 125th Anniversary Gala Dinner on 20th November 2014.  This has been a very exciting year for the Football Club: gaining promotion at the end of last Season to the Championship, celebrating their 125th Anniversary and securing planning permission for a brand new stadium in Brentford.

To celebrate their Anniversary BFC will be hosting a very special evening at London’s prestigious Hurlingham Club.  Natalie Sawyer is the glamorous MC and will be introducing some very special guests including England Manager Roy Hodgson, Chairman of the FA Greg Dyke, Footballing legend Pat Jennings, World Boxing Contender George Groves, Sky’s Chris Kamara, the multi talented actor and presenter Bradley Walsh and 10 Brentford footballing Legends. There is live music and dancing until late.

What Does Redevelopment of Brentford Mean For Your Business?

Dear Members,

I was invited to the launch of the Golden Mile future plans1 for Brentford, presented by London Borough of Hounslow last Thursday.

The plans put forward are futuristic and will no doubt make a huge impact on those who live and work here over the coming years.

It was very encouraging to see the increased development that is happening at BskyB and a future Brompton World centre potentially being built to keep this award winning company in Brentford.

The proposed improvements to rail links will be vital to enable the viability for the scheme to work successfully although the road networks have not been shown with any improvements. Bringing back the high speed connection between Brentford and Waterloo seems an easy win that hasn’t been included.

Brentford Chamber invite you to Championship football and lunch

Brentford Football Club

Our first Championship outing resulted in a 3-2 win for Brentford FC. Sophie Buckle sGuests at Novotelaid “Despite the referee’s best efforts, both teams played open, attractive, end-to-end football that was exciting to watch.  The result and the style of play was cracking with one of the friendliest atmospheres I’ve experienced at an English club.  A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.  Basking in sunshine in the stand, we could have been watching La Liga!”

Sophie also thought that “Lunch at the brand new Novotel was fantastic.  The service exceeded all expectation and was equivalent to some of London’s finest”.

Rotary Wheel

Quiz Night with the Rotary Club

Rotary WheelThe Rotary Club of Chiswick and Brentford invites you to a quiz night.

This takes place on Thursday September 25th at The Polish Centre, 238-246 King Street, Hammersmith, W6 0RF

The quiz starts at 7.30pm and costs £18, which includes a two course meal with refreshments available.

There will be a raffle on the night with great prizes.

Funds raised from this event will go to support the Humla Children’s School Project, helping to educate children in Nepal. The Humla project in Nepal is a small school in a very remote place. Children must walk 5 hours to get to this school, so now they have to stay school days, and then go home on weekends. The Rotary Club are helping for these children to get an education, and are trying to help them expand so more children can learn.

Call for a Business Strategy

Brentford Chamber of Commerce would like to see:

  • attractive buildings that mitigate their mass and density and therefore make the area appealing
  • a serious strategy to help maintain commercial space in Brentford, in particular for existing businesses, with the suggestion of using ground floor of car parks;
  • a retail strategy to help businesses establish themselves before being charged full market rent;
  • a more considered application for the development of the area south of the high street.
