Invitation to Brentford Chamber AGM at Fullers Brewery

You are invited to our next General Meeting which is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday 15th May at The Hock Cellar, Fuller Smith and Turner, Griffin Brewery, Chiswick Lane South at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. ( icon Map Showing Location of Hock Cellar).

There is a tour of the brewery departing at 5:15pm with limited places so please let us know if you’d like to go on the tour.

This year we are delighted to have our food provided by Brentford’s very own Lord Nelson, who will be offering canapes while we’re gathering and then a buffet after the formalities.

We’d like to thank Fullers for sponsoring the food and drink, as well as for hosting us at The Hock Cellar.

February Chamber Meeting at the Musical Museum

On the evening of Tuesday 28th February Brentford Chamber held a meeting which was kindly hosted by Ginette Kentish at The Musical Museum. The theme of the evening was “Heritage & Leisure”. Hence as well as our regular members we also invited representatives from organisations and businesses related to those sectors.

The evening started with a drinks reception in the exhibition gallery, during which Catherine Lemmon and Annette Jezierska entertained us with a violin and piano duet.

We then held the main part of the meeting in the Concert Hall. Firstly Richard Coles, the museum’s curator, performed two pieces on the Wurlitzer Organ and then spoke about the museum. New member Sarah Poland then explained the services provided by Mediation Chambers Ltd After that Paul Skelhorn and Lee Doyle from Brentford F.C. Community Sports Trust, told us about an event that they and ISIS are delivering later this summer, a community sports event open to everyone. It would be great to have our business members involved with their event, so look out for details.

Tracing Cyril J Scott

We h Cyril J Scott ave been contacted by Central & Cecil, a not-for-profit housing and care provider based in Waterloo who merged with a charitable trust called Brentford Philanthropic Society in around 1998. This society was formed in 1867.

They were given a bust of a Cyril J Scott who would seem to have been the President of the Brentford Charitable Trust, after the merger which has been in the Chief Executive’s office until now.

The trust is now planning an office move and would like to donate it back to any surviving members of Cyril’s family.

Cyril J Scott, Managing Director of Smith’s Crisps, was President of Brentford Chamber of Commerce 1937-1940.
