Business Engagement at University of West London

University of West London - Claude Littner Business School

This event will address key business/organisation challenges and give you the opportunity to engage with the University of West London on how we can help you to address these issues.

Prior to this event, we would kindly ask guests to send a short description of their business or company, and the challenges that they face over the next five years, to business.engagement@uwl.ac.uk, to which RSVPs should also be sent.

EU Referendum

EU Referendum

Surprisingly, our Chamber executive did not mirror all the public polls that suggest the EU Referendum will be very close. But we asked them to vote with a business head rather than their personal view which will be expressed on June 23rd. Purely considering our businesses, 8 of us voted to remain with only 2…

June Newsletter

Thank you to all who came to our AGM recently. It was an enjoyable evening, an opportunity to say thank you to Suzie Betlem for her four years as President and to welcome David O’Connor as our President for the year.

David’s written a few words to introduce himself.

David – Our New President

As you may know, we had a very successful and well attended AGM last month at The Hock Cellar. I would like to thank Fullers for hosting our unique AGM, and I already look forward to next year’s meeting at the brewery.

I would like to extend my thanks to Suzie, for her help and advice during the transition from her four years of tireless work for our Chamber. Over the next few weeks and months, I aim to work with the executive and our members on cementing our Chamber as the voice for business in Brentford. As a Chamber we have a challenge ahead of us. How do we remain relevant in today’s modern business place?

Masterclass on HR & Employment Law

AvensureAvensure support small to medium businesses by hosting nationally funded seminars that teach Employment Law & HR and the importance of thorough documentation.

On June 1st we’re running a Free Employment Law Masterclass at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. This is for Business Owners and those at Executive Level discussing issues such as Disciplinary Procedures and Part-Time staff as well as the proper policies required to protect your organisation from any damages.

Led by our expert Barrister, Tom Grady, this masterclass is aimed at business owners and directors, providing the skills and knowledge to grow in a secure way, avoiding potentially costly mistakes.

Brentford Chamber Celebrates its Year

Networking

Over 80 people attended the AGM on 17th May at the Hock Cellar where after four years as President Suzie Betlem handed over the chains of office to David O’Connor of the Holiday Inn.

Celebrate Brentford Chamber’s Year with Pride!

The Hock Cellar

Unlike your typical AGM, Brentford Chamber celebrates its year with beer and food, generously sponsored by Fuller’s at The Griffin Brewery (other drinks are available). The formalities of the AGM are got through as quickly as possible so that the majority of the evening is spent socialising, networking, eating fine food catered by The Griffin, and sampling Fuller’s full range of draught and bottle beers.

Brentford Chamber Executive meet with Essential Living

Essential Living are the developer who have bought the land currently occupied by Morrisons. Last week they met with the executive of Brentford Chamber of Commerce to hear about their priorities for the area. It is refreshing to talk to a developer about options for a site before plans have been firmed up and there is little left for negotiation.
