Mentoring Scheme for Students

As an extension to our successful Brentford Dragons events we have introduced a Mentoring Scheme for students in the Entrepreneurs’ Group at the University of West London.

Mentoring involves giving help and guidance to budding entrepreneurs as they develop their business ideas.

Local Election Hustings

Tuesday’s hustings was an opportunity to question candidates up for election to London Borough of Hounslow on the 22nd May. The candidates don’t have to be finalised until next week and some candidates were clearly last minute additions who hadn’t done much homework.

Ian Speed (ICG) and Cllr Theo Dennison (Labour) exchanged a few harsh words about the current and previous administration but were the clear winners, speaking clearly, confidently and with knowledge.

Cllr Mel Collins (Labour) was genuinely upset after 4 years of service by the questioner who asked “Why should I vote for any of you when you’ve done nothing to impress me?” especially when he realised that he had personally successfully helped the gentleman in question.

Mary Macleod welcomes tax cuts for local high streets

An estimated 500 local shops, pubs and restaurants in the Hounslow Borough could see their tax bills cut by a third because of tax cuts for small businesses taking effect this week.

Local MP Mary Macleod welcomed the news that will support the high streets in Chiswick, Brentford and Hounslow, boosting jobs and growth.

We had over 40 guests booked for our trip to Griffin Park which was sadly rained off. We are doing it all over again on 8th March against Bradford. You are once again invited to attend at £20 for football and light lunch beforehand at Siracusa.

You are invited to “Apprentices Mean Business” on 5th March, where you can meet existing apprentices and learn how apprentices can help your business.

Local elections are coming up and we will hold hustings for Brentford and Syon wards in St Paul’s Church on 15th April. Please come along.

Our Spring Brentford Dragons at the Holiday Inn was a glorious success, building on previous events and increased awareness and excitement by local businesses. On Saturday February 8th Brentford FC (who are almost top of the league at the moment!) are playing Crawley and you are invited to attend at £20 for football and lunch beforehand at Siracusa. We’re getting quite a group together so it should be an afternoon of fun. Please confirm attendance by 31st January.

We then are meeting up for our Spring Brentford Dragons on February 13th at the Holiday Inn. The new dragons will be announced shortly.
