Aid a Brentford Charity?

Andy Ward is trying to help a newly formed charity in Brentford called Project Siloam. The Charity has got a vision to help vulnerable and marginalised adults move towards permanent housing solutions and employment through a range of services. These services range from practically equipping those in need with furniture and clothing, to guiding beneficiaries through a variety of training and employability schemes. The charity is working out of the industrial unit in between Sotherby’s and SEGA in Brentford. Hounslow Together – the borough’s Local Strategic Partnership of public sector, business and voluntary sectors is refreshing its structure and membership and is looking for business representatives to be involved.

Brentford Lock West Gets the Go-Ahead

Planning permission has been granted for the major Brentford Lock West regeneration scheme.

ISIS Waterside Regeneration has been give the go-ahead for a 6.4 hectare mixed use development which is set to transform the land surrounding the historic waterways of the Grand Union Canal.

ISIS submitted an application to redevelop the site in November 2010. The proposal outlined plans to turn the derelict buildings and vacant land into a waterside community which will encompass residential, commercial and leisure use.

March Chamber Meeting at Siracusa Restaurant

Mar 22nd saw our first meeting at Siracusa Restaurant, which will become a regular part of our repertoire of events.

Tim Luckett and Andrew Dakers introduced us to the Docking Station along with a short video that clarified the background and development. Andrew has been working so hard on it that his voice had virtually gone.

We welcomed Phil Ashford from SEAT for his first appearance, Monique from West London Business attended as did Sally Smith and Mark Wardell from Hounslow Chamber as well as over twenty members.

Redevelopment proposals for Goat Wharf

A planning application has been submitted to the London Borough of Hounslow for the redevelopment of Goat Wharf, 42-50 Brentford High Street, and details can be viewed on the Council’s website.

The proposals are for 86 new homes, including affordable and family housing, commercial space and extensive landscaping to improve the approach to the river from Brentford High Street.

You are invited to attend our next General Meeting on the 22nd March at Siracusa Restaurant, Brentford Lock at 6 for a 6.30pm start. Our host, Ibrahim Unsal, is graciously offering us a glass of prosecco on arrival, followed by a main course accompanied by wine .

In these times it would be unfair to expect Ibrahim to fund this all himself so we are asking people to pay £10 to attend the meeting. Alliance Dance Unit Seeks Sponsorship

Alliance Dance Unit (ADU) is a Street Dance Unit based in Brentford.

The project was recently recognised by The Philip Lawrence Awards Network as a regional finalist which was presented to ADU at their first ever show in December 2010; this sold out the Watermans. Also in December, ADU won best youth project 2010 in the Hounslow Borough.

Brentford Chamber Meeting at BMI

An accident which closed the Eastbound carriage of the A4 and had all of Brentford in total gridlock was responsible for our last general meeting being quite small as well as late starting, although we did manage a few newcomers. A number of people were also unable to attend due to half term holidays and we will try and avoid school holidays in future.

Brentford Festival Glads Club

Brentford Chamber of Commerce hands over funds from Brentford Festival to Glads Club

Every year the Brentford Chamber of Commerce members enjoy a fun day out at the Brentford Festival and run a tombola stall to raise money for charity. The money collected is then given to a designated charity of their choice. This year the Chamber members have decided to give it to the Glads Club at Brentford School for girls.
