Brentford Chamber Support London Irish
At Hounslow’s Planning Committee last week London Irish gained permission to play rugby matches at Brentford’s FC new stadium at Lionel Road.
London Irish have to negotiate suitable agreements with Brentford FC and, of course, Lionel Road stadium has yet to be built.
Brentford Chamber wrote a letter in support of London Irish:
We firmly believe in the importance of keeping Brentford Football Club in Brentford and have therefore supported the initial planning application for Lionel Road Stadium. We appreciate that Brentford FC need a modern stadium that substantially increases match day revenue with improved facilities and also offers opportunities to generate off match day revenue. These facilities will improve the long term financial sustainability of the club.
The new stadium will also provide added community benefit and enhance the work that the Community Sports Trust does. This is vital to make sure that the development doesn’t just benefit the followers of BFC and a rugby club but that it offers benefit to the wider community as well.
Having a rugby club play at Lionel Road will contribute substantially to the financial stability of BFC and its future security.
We would of course expect that the development and use of Lionel Road Stadium offers economic benefit to new and existing businesses in Brentford and that much recruitment is done at a local level.
